When: It is our intent to open the store in the 2nd quarter of 2023.
Who Will We Serve: The ALICE population of Central Florida. ALICE is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. These are families who are above the federal poverty level but struggle to make ends meet. According to the Heart of Florida, United Way 2020 report, they make up 24% of the population of Seminole County, and 47% of all Central Florida families. The qualifying income level for a family of four in Seminole County is $52,400, or 200% of the poverty level.
Why We Will Serve: These are families who do not want the hand out that comes with patronizing a food pantry, but also cannot afford to shop at a for-profit supermarket. They are families who are struggling to make ends meet and may be one missed paycheck away from serious financial hardship.
What We Will Serve: Nominally priced groceries in an environment that provides dignity in the shopping experience.
How We Will Serve:
- We will demonstrate God’s grace in service to our community, replicating His love.
- We will serve our shoppers, reflecting each customer’s value as a person and make them feel good about themselves, no matter their situation.
- We will be dedicated to a culture of well-being, acting as the hands and feet of Jesus.
- Our store becomes a focal point of the community, helping to meet individual’s dietary, financial, and spiritual needs in a way that impacts a growing circle of customers, store volunteers and staff.
Where We Will Serve: The store will be located in a community with a large ALICE population and will be easily accessible by public transportation as well as motor vehicles.
